Green Masala (Hariyali)

Green Masala Hariyali Seafood Dish

A refreshing coastal delight where garden-fresh herbs meet the zest of spices. The vibrant green masala captures the true essence of South Indian coastal cooking — flavorful, aromatic, and wholesome.

Recipe

  1. Marinate the Seafood

In a bowl, mix Green Masala (Hariyali) with thick yogurt, a spoon of ginger-garlic paste, and a dash of lemon juice. Add cleaned prawns or whitefish fillets, coat evenly, and let it rest for 15–20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. Cook the Masala

Heat 1–2 tablespoons of oil or ghee in a pan. Add the marinated seafood and cook on medium heat until the masala releases its aroma and turns glossy.

  3. Simmer and Roast

Continue stirring until the prawns or fillets are tender and evenly coated with the masala. For extra richness, drizzle a little fresh cream or coconut milk before turning off the flame.

  4. Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh coriander and mint leaves. Serve hot with jeera rice, neer dosa, or chapati.
